Ethics

Ethics all comes down to one point, the difference between 'good' and 'evil'. We practice taekwondo, but does this mean that we can kick one on the head? We wear protection, because we don't want a person to be injured, so this is not really a problem. It is all part of the sport. Taekwondo is not a destructive sport, but a sportive one, taking part in a competition is not to hurt your opponent, but to test your strength, in both physical and mental ways. Taekwondo students can improve themselves physically and mentally by training. The final goal is to achieve harmony with nature and oneself. A true Taekwondo student knows how to behave in all situations. Taekwondo  is not only a way to improve skills of self defense, but it's a way of life. Practicing Taekwondo gives the student more self-confidence, but this should not result in a false sense of superiority.

How to behave in the dojang

Always wear a clean and ironed Dobok.

  • Clean hands, feet, short nails.
  • Don't wear sharp things (if you do not have a Dobok, do not wear pants with zippers etc.)
  • No jewelry allowed
  • Don't drink, smoke or eat in the dojang (no chewing gum!)
  • Be on time.
  • When entering and leaving the dojang, make a proper bow
  • Don't talk, unless it is urgent

WHY TAE KWON DO?

UNSHAKABLE SELF RESPECT. Increased strength and fitness, in both body and mind. And all of it comes while learning how to kick, block, and punch. Still, you're wondering if this will work for yourself or your child, you may be asking, how does all this "values" stuff work? And why does TAEKWNODO manage to do a better job teaching it? More than any other sport, TAEKWONDO gives you or your  child the chance to explore his or her innate powers. You'll marvel as you and your child increases in strength, flexibility endurance, balance, and harmony. Yet this is only the start. In fact, your physical skills act as a foundation for something much more important: the development of  your value skills, mental and spiritual. And not cut off from your physical skills, but intimately connected (even bonded) to them

COURAGE. You will find the courage to move outside of  your comfort zone. You will yourself to take on more difficult karate moves and skills. You will becomes no longer afraid of being afraid. As you do so, you learn that whatever you sow, so you reap. You learns to blame no one, but himself. You suddenly sees your life as a constant, never-ending journey of life-giving improvement. In short, with a deep breath, you refuse to become a victim of fate. YOU put an arm lock on your own destiny.

STAYING POWER. You will find joy in improving your physical stamina. You can walk farther, run longer, practice skills until you  get them right. In turn, you learn not to give up.  With the help of  your instructor you  strive harder to  reach your goals. Even if you fail you perseveres. You don't let your self doubts get in the way of finding ultimate solutions. As the man said, "Where performance is measured, performance improves."  Above all, you learn that to succeed, he can't fool anyone, especially himself.
